Our very own Family Event to celebrate our amazing sons.
We recently did our own event in one of our Traditional Game Hire units to honour our superhero kids – who are both now grown men! The youngest endured multiple brain surgeries to tackle brain tumours and infection in the skull, as well as both sons having ASD.
This event was a belated 18th party for our eldest son – who actually turns 22 in January 2026!
The name of the bar specifically gives a special nod to both our boys who are our superheros – Bruce Wayne/Batman and Kal-EL/Superman.

We started with an empty unit:
We built a room for a bar inside one of our game storage units:
We added all the touches to make it a homely bar vibe with lots of games to entertain!
We added our popular pub games for hire…and a few drinks!
We invited some friends over to enjoy our games:

Crazy or Mini Golf?!
In this blog we explore the differences between Crazy and Mini Golf.
Mini golf and crazy golf are two popular pastimes that involve putting a golf ball into a series of holes on a course filled with obstacles and challenges. While they may seem similar at first glance, mini golf and crazy golf have distinct characteristics that set them apart.
In this article, we’ll delve into the world of mini golf and crazy golf, exploring their differences and similarities to answer the question: Are they the same?
The Basics of Mini Golf
Mini golf quickly gained popularity and spread across the United States and Europe. Courses were designed with a variety of themes and obstacles, including windmills, tunnels, and ramps, to make the game more entertaining and challenging. The objective of mini golf is to navigate the ball through these obstacles and into the hole with the fewest number of strokes.
Key Features of Mini Golf:
- Moderate Difficulty: Mini golf courses are typically designed to be fun and challenging, but not overwhelmingly difficult. They often include features like windmills, water hazards, tunnels, and ramps to add excitement to the game.
- Scoring: In mini golf, players keep track of their scores, and the player with the lowest score at the end of the game wins. Scoring is straightforward, with each stroke counting as one point.
- Family-Friendly: Mini golf is a family-friendly activity suitable for players of all ages and skill levels. It provides an enjoyable outing for friends and families alike.
The Ins and Outs of Crazy Golf
The Emergence of Crazy Golf
Crazy golf, on the other hand, is a variation of mini golf that originated in the United Kingdom. The term “crazy golf” is often used to describe courses that feature unconventional and whimsical obstacles, designed to make the game even more entertaining and unpredictable.
Crazy golf courses typically include creative elements such as loop-the-loops, spinning wheels, and animated characters that add a sense of fun and excitement. These courses are designed to be visually striking and engaging, appealing to players of all ages. While the objective remains the same—getting the ball into the hole with the fewest strokes—the added craziness of the obstacles makes the game more challenging and enjoyable.
Key Features of Crazy Golf:
- Whimsical Themes: Crazy golf courses are known for their elaborate and often fantastical themes. You might find yourself putting through pirate ships, haunted houses, or even a jungle filled with animatronic animals.
- Playful Challenges: Crazy golf courses feature a wide range of playful and unpredictable challenges. From spinning windmill blades to tricky mazes, these obstacles are designed to keep players entertained and surprised.
- Casual Atmosphere: Crazy golf is all about having a good time. While players still aim to complete the course in as few strokes as possible, the emphasis is more on enjoyment and laughter than on competition.
The Main Differences
So, what sets mini golf and crazy golf apart?
- Course Design: The most significant difference lies in the course design. Mini golf courses are challenging but often more straightforward, while crazy golf courses are known for their imaginative themes and whimsical obstacles.
- Intensity: Mini golf can be seen as a more serious and competitive sport, with players aiming to achieve the lowest score. In contrast, crazy golf is all about the experience and having fun, making it perfect for social outings.
- Target Audience: Mini golf is suitable for a wide range of players, including those who prefer a bit of competition. Crazy golf, with its playful and lighthearted atmosphere, is particularly appealing to families and those looking for a relaxed time.
Conclusion – the Differences Between Crazy & Mini Golf
In conclusion, mini golf and crazy golf, while sharing similarities, are distinct forms of entertainment with their unique characteristics. Mini golf offers a moderate level of challenge and competitive gameplay, making it a great choice for those who enjoy traditional golf but on a smaller scale. On the other hand, crazy golf emphasizes imaginative themes, whimsical obstacles, and a lighthearted atmosphere, making it an ideal choice for a fun and casual event.
